A message from the new 'Club Prez'

Committee | Thu 4-Sep-2014 11:26am

The Club's newly elected committee has been working hard to get the coming season up and running.

The committee

I am proud to announce that the committee for season 2014/15 is as follows:
President: Michael Muttiah
Vice President: Jason Barrie
Treasurer: Jason Vipulananthan
Secretary: Graham Oppy
Vice President (Match): Frank Bennett
Vice President (Social): Jason Combridge
Delegate: Wes Howell

I am really happy with the people we have on board. I feel that this committee can make a positive impact both on and off the field for our club, which is very exciting.
We have one position left to fill, Vice President (Juniors), which we are still speaking to various people about. If you are interested in taking on the role, or want to discuss it at all, don't hesitate to call me (contact details are below).

Moving to ECA

As was discussed at the AGM, unfortunately the senior aspect of the SDCCL disbanded in mid July, requiring us to find a new league or association to play our senior cricket in.
Of the members that were present at the AGM, the majority vote was to join the Eastern Cricket Association, provided the ECA implemented a new 50/50 rule which was to be tabled at their AGM. This rule was passed, which means we are officially part of the ECA.
The ECA has a long and decorated history and has been more than accommodating in welcoming us to their association and making sure we understand how they run. I am very confident we will have a great working relationship with them for this season and beyond.

Number of teams and captains

In the last couple of weeks the committee has tried to determine how many players we would have for this season. It's always hard, especially so early in the season, to get exact numbers, but we feel that we have a rough idea.
We are very hopeful that we will have enough numbers for 3 junior teams and 4 senior teams, but that will only be confirmed in the next couple of weeks. This is also why we cannot announce captains just yet. As a committee, we have earmarked our potential leaders, but an announcement can only be made once we confirm how many XIs we have.

Senior Subs

The senior subs for season 2014/15 are $200.00. With the treasurer's report from last season explaining how challenging it was to receive payment from all signed up members, we have decided to implement 2 payment options.
Payment option 1: Pay full subs before October 1 2014 and receive a 10% discount (therefore $180.00).
Payment option 2: Pay half the subs ($100.00) before October 1 2014 and then pay the remaining half ($100.00) by 31st December 2014.

Junior Subs

The junior subs for season 2014/15 are $130.00, with payment to be made before October 1 2014.

The preferred method of payment, for both juniors and seniors, is electronically through a bank transfer.

Account Name: Glen Waverley Cougars Cricket
BSB: 033-385
Account Number: 67 57 97

However, if you are unable to transfer, you can pay in cash to any member of the committee.

Senior training has commenced, with training being held THURSDAY NIGHT from 6:00pm-7:00pm at Sandown Sports Stadium, 2 Brough Street, Springvale North. Cost is $10.00.
Junior players are also more than welcome to attend this training session as well, as we have 3 nets for that hour. There is no cost for the juniors.
Outdoor training for the juniors will commence on Saturday 13th September at Glen Waverley North Reserve from 9:00am-10:30am.

There will be a junior registration day on Saturday 27th September 2014 from 9:00am-10:30am, which will include a special guest and a free sausage sizzle.
The senior season launch will be on Friday 3rd October 2014.
More details will be made available in the coming weeks through Jason Combridge and his social committee, so keep an eye out for that.
