Match Summary 2XI Rd 5

Match | Mon 10-Nov-2014 1:25pm
2nd XI vs Mt Waverley Uniting. Not having much luck with the toss, lost again and we were in the field. Nice warm day. Rick Alabaster & Vish Arivalagan got us off to a good start having them 1/43 after the first 10 overs. Wes Howell & Gihan Jayaweera really tightened the screws and bowled 16 overs in tandem to have them 3/95 after 26. With 14 overs left we were hoping to keep them under 160 but unfortunately they got the luckiest break of all time, Ali HYdi unlucky as he bowled the batsmen with a full toss and had it called no ball, could be a very interesting umpires report!!! Their last 2 batsmen got lucky and pushed the score to 7/177. Paul Brazier 3/47, Wes Howell 2/25, Ali Hydi 1/19 & Vish 1/23. On a big fast ground 4.4 runs required, very achievable. We lost an early wicket and then Nev Sinnott 20 & Gihan Jayaweera 45 got us going. Unfortunately Nev was caught by a blinding catch at fine leg, I don't think the fielder could believe the luck. Warren Page 64 was the pick of the batsmen today and toiled away and nearly got us home. We may have left our dash a little late falling 11 runs short for victory 7/167. A solid performance as we head into the longer format games, didn't get the victory but can hold our heads high. Bring on next week.
