2XI RD 12

Match | Fri 13-Feb-2015 6:41am
2nd XI vs East Ivanhoe at Chelmsworth Park. Winning the toss on a 35 degree day there is only one option, lets have a bat. Not knowing that East Ivanhoe would take the field with 9 it was a blessing in disguise. We got off to a flyer going at 6 an over for the first 13 overs before Nev Sinnott lost his wicket for 51 and we were 1/80, not a bad start at all. We then had a minor slump loosing 3/52 and being 4/132 off 29 overs at tea. Their over rate was atrocious today, we were set for a late finish! A quick wicket and we were 5/145 after tea. We really needed a partnership to capitalise on our opening stand and Wes Howell & Andrew Wright put on 49 for the 6th wicket to get us to 6/194. Wrighty was doing an amazing job holding our innings together, I have never seen a guy sweat so much, but to his credit he was drinking plenty of fluids in this heat. I think he knew he was closing in on a milestone and battled through the nervous nineties to bring up a well deserved ton finishing on 104, 60 overs in this heat a great effort. Unfortunately lots of us didn't get going today but we finished on 239 on a very large ground. We had 6 overs to bowl and didn't get a wicket, East Ivanhoe 0/17 at stumps. Bring on next week and a positive mind set, claim the 10 wickets, hold our catches, bowl line and length and the rest will take care of itself.
