2XI RD13

Match | Mon 23-Feb-2015 6:18am
2nd XI vs Glen Waverley. Grudge match 2nd vs 3rd.... A very warm day and a toss that could make or break the result, alas we lost the toss yet again, looking back we have only won 2 out of 13 for the season, the luck has to turn!!!! Of course Glen Waverley decided to bat first. The task was to restrict and take early wickets and that is what we did we had them 5/55 after 15 overs, an outstanding start. To Glen Waverley's credit they didn't roll over they dug in and were 6/152... at tea off 34 overs. After tea we came out with vigour and enthusiasm and had instant success, we cleaned up the tail and had them all out for 225 off 52 overs. A very pleasing result. All the bowlers stuck to the task, bowling stump to stump 6 bowled, 1 LBW & 1 Caught Behind reflected this. The pick of the bowlers was Kusal Pathiraja who claimed 4/48, searing in swinging yorkers at the stumps gave him a clean sweep with 4 bowled and one broken stump. Wes Howell 2/32 now has 28 wickets for the season, Max Roberts 2/44, Josh Buzz Edwards 1/34 & Ali HYdi 1/35. We then had 17 overs to face, always an unpleasant task for the openers but Nev Sinnott & Jason Combridge got us off to a great start bringing up a 50 run opening partnership, unfortunately JC fell just before stumps, we finished on 1/57 and Nev Sinnott on 51n.o. The opportunity is there for us if we are good enough. A positive mindset is required to knock of the runs next week and thus set up a rematch the following week in the Semi Final, a slip up and we could fall to 4th and play Clifton Hill. Destiny is in our hands!!! Lets Go Cougars.
