The Club regrets the recent passing of a long time supporter Mr Fred Bain

at the age of 88 years.

Fred became involved with the Club in the late 1970’s supporting the careers

of his sons Roger and Peter at Under age level.

He became the Club’s first Junior Co Ordinator in 1988/9 and 1989/90 during

which the Under14 team won two flags and the Under12’s and 16’s were

runners up.

In 1988 Fred was assistant to coach Mark Hughes when South Suburban

won the CUOV Under 12 Mitchell Shield.

During his own cricket career of 27 years Fred played with St James Glen Iris

as a left arm opening bowler and was a First Eleven Premiership player

on 7 occasions.

As an administrator through the 50’s and 70’s Fred was General Secretary

of the Association for 6 seasons, a Grade Secretary for 5 seasons , a Delegate

to CUOV for 7 years and a fixture and grounds organizer for 35 seasons.

Fred was elected to Life Membership of the Association in 1988.

Our sympathies are extended to the Bain family.
