David Thompson

Awards: Life Membership (1998)
Leadership: Junior Coach (1987/88, 1988/89), Senior Coach (1989/90-1999/2000)

David is our only non player to be recognised with Life Membership after his cricketing career was cut short due to a serious leg injury.

David came to the Club in 1983/84 in support of his sons Rohan and Haydn playing in our junior teams.

The Thompson family including Margaret, made a significant contribution to the Club over 20 seasons.

David provided valuable guidance to many of our players both in developing their technique and offering a listening ear.

David commenced coaching with the U/16 boys in 1987/88 and became the Club’s first skills Coach in 1989/90. He held the position of Vice President, overseeing Match responsibilities of Coaching, Training and Chairman of Selectors for 10 seasons until he relinquished the role in 2000.

David initiated player performance objectives and his dedication to coaching resulted in 5 Premierships in the 90’s including the 1st and 2nd XI flags in 1992/93.
