Match Summary 3XI Rd3

Match | Mon 27-Oct-2014 1:20pm
Thirds 181 ( Josh Rat 43, Noah 41, Satish A Shekar 23 n.o., Trevor 20, Paul-Mikhail Podosky 16, Matt Cherry 16) defeated Toorak-Prahran 156 Raphael Adeloju 3/16, Graham 2/21, Satish 2/23, Paul 2/29, Matt 1/51, catches to Josh, Noah, Peter Bain, Raph and Paul). This time, instead of eight versus eleven, it was nine versus eleven against Toorak-Prahran. Game on! When the third toss in a row fell our way, we batted. We lasted 34.3 overs, and posted our best total for the year so far. Lots of contributions with the bat. Noah's 41 on senior debut was the standout, but he had great support from Josh, Satish, Trevor, Paul and Matt. CS3 is not the biggest ground at Fawkner Park, and a few balls were sent sailing over the boundary by Josh (4), Matt (1), Satish (1) and Noah (1). When they batted, Raph removed their top three, including one to a gem of a legside catch behind the stumps by Josh. Paul got the next two, including one where the batsman left what he thought was a leggie pitching wide of off stump, but it turned out to be a massive wrong 'un. Satish too the next two, including one to the most amazing catch by Pete at short mid -wicket: their captain absolutely creamed the shot, but Pete plucked it way above his head. Their number ten batsman slogged his way to 30 in no time before Matt picked up his first wicket of the season (well caught by Raph out near the midwicket boundary). In the end, they were 25 runs short, but had 22 balls they didn't face. Strong contributions for all nine of the Cougars players got us over the line to our first win of the season. A very satisfying day.
